Queen Mary University of London Visits Meticuly to Strengthen Research Collaboration

Updated: 5 days ago

On January 17th, Meticuly had the pleasure of welcoming a delegation of esteemed leaders from Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) to our headquarters in Bangkok. The visit marked a significant step in fostering collaborative research and educational partnerships between QMUL and Thai institutions, including Chulalongkorn University and Meticuly.

The QMUL delegation included:

  • Professor Wen Wang FREng, Vice Principal for Science and Engineering

  • Professor Alex Clark, Dean for International, Faculty of Science and Engineering, and Professor of Mathematics

  • Dr. Chinnapat Panwisawas, Senior Lecturer in Materials and Solid Mechanics, Deputy Director of Graduate Studies and Director of Materials Science and Engineering Programme at SEMS

  • Dr. Craig Wheway, Senior International Partnerships Manager, Joint Research and Development Office

Representing Meticuly were Asst. Prof. Chedtha Puncreobutr, CTO, and Ms. Peeranoot Lohwongwatana, COO, along with Mr Thanawat Phetrattanarangsi, the Head of R&D and Mr Kantapat Phakdeewisetkul, Head of Technology.

The visit provided a valuable opportunity for both institutions to explore avenues for future collaboration, building upon existing research partnerships such as the Newton Fund project on "Digital Materials Design and Additive Manufacturing for helping patients on bespoke 3D-printed implants." This project, involving Associate Professor Dr. Boonrat Lohwongwatana, Assistant Professor Dr. Chedtha Puncreobutr, Meticuly, and Dr. Chinnapat Panwisawas, highlights the potential for impactful research outcomes through joint efforts.

QMUL's commitment to strengthening ties with Thailand is further evidenced by their recent award of strategic funding from the UK government's International Science Partnership Fund (ISPF). This fund aims to support collaborations with Official Development Assistance (ODA) member countries like Thailand to address major challenges in science and engineering.

This visit signifies a promising future for collaborative research and innovation between QMUL, Chulalongkorn University, and Meticuly. By combining their expertise and resources, these institutions are poised to make significant contributions to addressing global challenges in science and engineering.
